This international conference is jointly organised by Singapore Management University (School of Law), Bond University (Faculty of Law) and the Singapore Academy of Law. The conference will examine the role of tort law in protecting business and economic interests, with particular focus on nominate torts (such as the “economic torts”, defamation, breach of confidence, and statutory torts), and how these may intersect with claims in negligence. Participants will have access to papers on intentional and economic torts, accessory and vicarious liability, defamation and privacy, defences and remedies, negligence and issues arising from the intersection of tort law with other subject areas (such as contracts, intellectual property and public law).

The Conference will take over on 18 and 19 August 2016 at the Singapore Supreme Court Auditorium.

The keynote speaker of the conference is The Right Honourable The Lord Hoffmann, formerly Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, United Kingdom, now Honorary Professor of Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary, University of London.

The Right Honourable The Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury, President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, will deliver the Distinguished Guest Speaker Lecture at the conference.
