SG and WIPO Centre Collaborate to Reduce Copyright Dispute Mediation Costs

IPOS announced today that businesses and creators will now have access to reduced mediation rates to resolve copyright disputes in Singapore, at the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center (WIPO Center). This collaboration is driven by IPOS with WIPO Center, to strengthen Singapore’s position as the region’s alternative dispute resolution hub.

Currently, parties with an existing dispute before IPOS involving patents, registered designs and trademark enjoy reduced rates when they choose WIPO Center as their mediation provider. Now, with the reduced rates extended to copyright disputes, stakeholders in the copyright and creative industries stand to gain access to more efficient and cost-effective routes to resolve their copyright disputes, including those relating to collective management and orphan works.
